Tech Rehersals - Day 2

Due to Sven’s crippling injury to his little finger (the big wuss!) he is unable to type today’s blog…….so like the hero that I am, I have (been) volunteered to take his place.

After watching our flight cases role away from us we discovered that the floor of Champness Hall is raked (on a slant). So today we have been helping hands to the four wonderful guys from E.C Creative, who are franticly packing the back of the set and cutting new legs for the decks.

Ben Peters who is the understudy to the character Hegei, and can often be heard saying “Oh my day’s!” is joining us today. He has decided to come up and see what teching is all about with the possibility of joining our motley crew. We will keep you posted.

Tech Rehersal - Day 1

Well its the first day and new boy Sam has joined us to see whether he can take the pace of the luv esther show. To be honest he has had the real experience with Champness Hall not having a proper load-in access, we had to leave the truck in the high street and carry the gear down the high street then in through the front doors. He almost died but i think he will recover in time for tomorrow....hopefully....we shall see. The rest of the boys seem to be a little tired as well everyone seems to have forgotten how heavy some of those bits of metal are.

Injuries to date.

Sven - Hurt my little finger....Craig says it may be broken but he didnt seem to bothered by it all so life goes on.

Tim - Pains in abdomen - we think it is either sympathy pains for Zoe (shes pregnant with his baby) or trapped wind.

Sam - suffering from sore hands. Maybe he should stop moisturising?

Dave - twinge in the dodgy knee...he picked up some shrapnel in Nam!

Well have fun and enjoy the pics.

A Few Introductions...

Well, first of all let me say an offical crew based hello to you all.

I thought it would be a splendid idea if I gave you a quick introduction to the touring crew and filled you in on what it is that they do exactly....to avoid any crew bus arguments i will proceed to do this based on first name alphabetically.

Anna Westwood - Tour/Stage Manager - Anna has the tough job of getting the cast (around 14 girls and 3 guys) to the right place at the right time. During the show it is her job to make sure everything runs smoothly, making sure scene changes happen at the right time and cast get on and off stage.

Craig (Crusty) Cursiter - Crew/Tea Boy - The baby of the crew Craig is great at making cups of tea. During the show he can be seen dashing across the stage to make sure the bits of set end up in the right place and secured down safely. He is also pretty good at pushing flightcases and tightening truss nuts and bolts. a bit of an all-rounder really.

Stephen (Sven) Jolly - Lighting Tech - I am responsible for making sure the crew get the gear into the venue and up in time. As i am the lighting tech i make sure that all the lights get put onto the truss in the right place. During the show I sit behind the lighting desk and press buttons.

Tim (Twixie/Timmy Two Shoes) Wickham - Video Tech - Tim is responsible for all the video stuff that goes on. He is the main man during the show as he press the button that sets it all rolling. He has a cool toy called a DoReMi which is basically a posh video player.

That is all the crew at the moment, we are still recruiting crew members so if you would like to come and join give the ngm office a call on (01454) 414880 and ask someone there about it.

While i am on a bit of a typing roll, i would like to put my thanks down to a few people who have made this show possible. Wigwam have been legends especially Mick Spratt and Mike Mcgurk who have gone well over the call of duty. Rob Collet your a real legend its been great. Phil Goldsworthy and Paul Braddock are still talking to me despite all the hassle and short notice. Dan Bowater and Steve McManus was great having you both along on the cameos. Greg Szabo and Dave Greenwood thanks for the experience. Nick Wood keep on truckin'.

Well i seem to have abused my position enough so i am off to do something else.
If you come along to a show please do come and say a friendly hello.

Excellent.
